At Davebrook Schools & College, we are not just educating minds; we are safeguarding futures. Following a critical visit from the Makogi Primary Health Center (PHC) immunization team, we are shining a spotlight on the specific fight against Rubella and Measles.
In a candid interview with the team leader, Matron Solate Olubukola, broke down exactly why this specific vaccine is non-negotiable for our students right now.
Targeting the Virus
Matron Solate clarified that the immunization drive specifically targets Measles and Rubella. While these viruses often start with symptoms that look like a common cold, they can escalate quickly.
According to the Matron, this vaccine is a powerful shield that prevents:
- High Fevers
- Severe Coughing
- Brain Infections
- Debilitating Rashes
The “Booster” Factor: Why It Can’t Wait
A major misconception is that previous vaccination is enough. Matron Solate debunked this immediately. She explained that the current dose is a “Booster Dose”.
She stated clearly: even if a child received a measles vaccine as recently as yesterday, they must receive this specific booster. It acts as a necessary reinforcement to ensure the immune system is fully locked against the virus.
Who Needs It?
The net is cast wide to ensure no child is left vulnerable. The vaccine covers children from 9 months up to 14 years old.
A Plea for Health
Matron Solate noted that leaving a child unvaccinated is dangerous. She pleaded with mothers and the school community to allow health workers to administer this protection , emphasizing that the vaccine is safe and highly effective.
We thank our Davebrook parents for standing with us against Rubella and ensuring our school remains a safe, healthy zone for learning.
