A Culinary Journey Across Nigeria: Davebrook Celebrates Unity through Flavor

Davebrook Schools & College recently transformed into a vibrant tapestry of colors, rhythms, and aromas as we celebrated our much-anticipated 2026 Cultural Day. This year, the spotlight shone brightly on the heart of every culture: its cuisine.

In a powerful display of the “Social Excellence” pillar of our Excellence Prism, our dedicated parents took the lead, turning the school grounds into a grand culinary map of Nigeria.

Our Academic Strategist, Mrs. Adesida, noted that Cultural Day is more than a feast; it is a vital classroom for our students. “By experiencing the food, dress, and history of their peers, our students develop the respect and empathy required of global leaders,” she remarked.

The event successfully fostered a sense of belonging and pride among our learners, reinforcing the idea that while we come from different tribes, we are one Davebrook family.

The Great Nigerian Kitchen

The celebration featured an extraordinary array of traditional delicacies, meticulously prepared and proudly showcased by our parent body. The diversity of our community was on full display as guests journeyed through the authentic flavors of our nation:

  • South-West (Yoruba): The aroma of Amala and Abula filled the air, representing the rich heritage of our host community.
  • South-East (Igbo): Parents presented a masterclass in traditional appetizers with Abacha (African Salad), served with a rich array of condiments that captured the essence of Igbo hospitality.
  • Northern Region (Hausa/Fulani): The stall featured Masara (Corn-based delicacy), offering a delicious and hearty glimpse into Northern culinary traditions.
  • South-South (Niger-Delta): The coastal flavors were represented by the world-famous, protein-rich Ogbono Soup, served with the traditional swallows of the delta region.
