The strategic session, held in the School Hall on May 16, 2026, tackled the upcoming multiple series of WAEC (GCE) and the critical transition of NECO to Computer-Based Testing (CBT). To guarantee optimal student outcomes, management unveiled an aggressive Intensive Preparation Plan.
“The school will continue with its intensive preparation plan, including morning classes from 7:00 to 8:00 am and effective Saturday classes from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.”
Zero Tolerance for Data Errors: On the administrative front, parents must guarantee the absolute accuracy of their child’s Learner’s Identification Number (LIN) and National Identification Number (NIN). Management warned against the dangers of duplicating LINs and stressed that names across the NIN, international passports, and school records must match flawlessly.
Academic Roadmap & Uncompromising Exam Targets Davebrook College is setting the bar at an elite level, officially targeting a minimum score of 300 in JAMB for its students. To realize this, the school is deploying a comprehensive strategy:
- CBT Domination: With NECO’s shift to a CBT format, it is a necessity for students to install CBT applications on their personal laptops and rigorously practice at home. Time management during these digital exams is critical.
- Mock Exam Regimen: The school will administer a minimum of three mock examinations to assess preparedness and simulate real exam conditions.
- Strategic Subject Selection: Subject combinations are being heavily scrutinized to align with career goals and JAMB requirements. Crucially, any student offering Mathematics in JAMB is strictly required to offer Further Mathematics in school. Economics is highly recommended as a versatile bridge between science and social science disciplines.
The Mandate for Parents: Active Monitoring and Registration Accuracy Management emphasized that achieving Academic Excellence requires absolute parental involvement. The school issued stringent directives for the home front:
- Study Enforcement: Parents are urgently tasked to monitor study habits, ensuring students dedicate at least two hours daily to academics.
- Screen Time & Distractions: Screen time must be heavily monitored to ensure engagement in academic activities rather than games. The use of CCTV at home to monitor study habits was even suggested during the meeting. Fathers, in particular, are urged to amplify their active involvement during this critical period.
