MAKOGI, OGUN STATE
At Davebrook Schools & College, we believe in equipping our youngest learners with essential life skills from the very beginning. As part of our commitment to the Excellence Prism—specifically the pillar of Social Excellence—our nursery learners recently participated in an engaging community routine activity.
In this hands-on practical life exercise, our scholars learned the step-by-step process of caring for fabrics: properly washing, wringing, and drying them.
The highlight of the session was seeing the “clean results” as our learners proudly displayed their work. At Davebrook, we ensure that every community routine reinforces our mission to cultivate well-rounded individuals who lead with skill and integrity.
These activities prove that no task is too small when it comes to building the foundation for a lifetime of leadership and self-reliance.
The Science of Practical Life
Guided by our dedicated staff, these foundational activities do much more than teach chores; they serve as critical developmental milestones. By participating in these routines, nursery learners gain:
Fine Motor Skills: The squeezing and wringing motions strengthen small hand muscles essential for future writing. Fostered Independence: Children learn that they are capable of caring for themselves and their environment. Improved Concentration: Following a multi-step sequence—from soaping to rinsing—requires focus and mental discipline. Teachable Responsibility: Our learners discover the value of communal care in a supportive, fun environment.
