Davebrook Schools & College today issues a critical weather and health advisory as Makogi enters an intense tropical heat phase. Data from the current transition period indicates that while the Harmattan dust has subsided, extreme thermal stress and rising humidity now pose significant challenges to student well-being.
Consistent with our Academic Excellence pillar, we prioritize a safe learning environment as the foundation for rigorous scholarship. Consequently, the school management is taking proactive steps to safeguard our community against the “feels like” 42°C temperatures projected for this week.
In line with our Social Excellence principle, which highlights the importance of community care and responsibility, we encourage both parents and staff to adopt the following “Heat-Shield” measures:
Enhanced Hydration Protocol: One water bottle is not enough given the current conditions. We require students to bring at least two large bottles. Adding a slice of lemon or a dash of salt to one bottle helps replenish essential electrolytes lost through excessive sweating.
The “Cotton-First” Guideline: To promote Moral Excellence by instilling self-respect and personal hygiene in students, we mandate that they wear 100% cotton undergarments. Synthetic materials trap moisture and elevate the risk of heat rashes and fungal infections.
Post-School Hygiene Recommendation: We advise students to take a cool bath immediately upon returning home in Makogi to eliminate salt residues and bacteria, thereby preventing potential skin-related health issues.
Weekly Weather Outlook (March 9 – March 15)
The Makogi axis currently faces “sticky heat” conditions where humidity levels exceeding 70% hinder the body’s natural cooling mechanisms.

| Tue, Mar 10 | 35°C / 25°C | Partly Cloudy; High Thermal Stress | 8 (Very High) |
| Wed, Mar 11 | 34°C / 24°C | Scattered Thunderstorms | 6 (High) |
| Thu, Mar 12 | 35°C / 25°C | Overcast & Oppressively Sticky | 7 (High) |
| Fri, Mar 13 | 36°C / 26°C | Clear Skies; Intense Sunlight | 9 (Extreme) |
| Sat – Sun | 34°C / 25°C | Sunny Intervals; Potential Showers | 8 (Very High) |
Operationalizing Social and Moral Excellence: Health Protocols
In line with our Social Excellence principle, which highlights the importance of community care and responsibility, we encourage both parents and staff to adopt the following “Heat-Shield” measures:
- Enhanced Hydration Protocol: One water bottle is not enough given the current conditions. We require students to bring at least two large bottles. Adding a slice of lemon or a dash of salt to one bottle helps replenish essential electrolytes lost through excessive sweating.
- The “Cotton-First” Guideline: To promote Moral Excellence by instilling self-respect and personal hygiene in students, we mandate that they wear 100% cotton undergarments. Synthetic materials trap moisture and elevate the risk of heat rashes and fungal infections.
- Post-School Hygiene Recommendation: We advise students to take a cool bath immediately upon returning home in Makogi to eliminate salt residues and bacteria, thereby preventing potential skin-related health issues.
Administrative Reminder: Term 2 Fees
Davebrook Schools & College remains dedicated to offering top-notch facilities to address these weather challenges. To uphold this standard of Academic Excellence, we want to remind parents that all current invoices relate to the Term 2 2025/2026 Academic Session School Fees. We anticipate that all pending payments will be completed by the deadline of March 14, 2026.
