Safety First: Navigating the 42°C Heat Wave at Davebrook This Week

Welcome to a new week of learning and growth. As we open our gates for the week of January 26, 2026, we must address a significant shift in the weather affecting the Makogi/Magboro axis.

While the calendar suggests Harmattan, meteorological data confirms we have entered a “Heat Wave” phase. Intense sunshine and rising humidity have replaced the typical dry winds. Today alone, temperatures will “feel like” a staggering 42°C.

To guarantee the safety and comfort of every child and staff member, the school management has activated the following community guidelines.

The Forecast: A Week of High Intensity

  • Mon – Wed (Jan 26–28): Prepare for clear skies and scorching temperatures. The UV index remains high; direct sunlight will be intense.
  • Thu – Fri (Jan 29–30): Humidity levels will spike. The air will feel “sticky” and heavy, even if the thermometer drops slightly.
  • The Weekend: Early reports predict cooling thunderstorms by Saturday, offering much-needed relief.

New Student Safety Protocols

We strictly advise parents and guardians to adopt these measures immediately:

1. The “3-Bottle Rule” (Hydration Strategy) Dehydration poses the biggest risk this week. We strongly urge you to pack extra water (2–3 bottles) or a large insulated flask for your child. While teachers will enforce regular “hydration breaks” during lessons, students must have an ample supply to last the day.

2. Uniform Flexibility for Comfort Heat hampers concentration. During peak heat hours (12:00 PM – 3:00 PM), teachers will permit students to loosen ties and remove blazers or cardigans indoors. We prioritize body temperature regulation over strict formality during this extreme weather.

Administrative Notice: School Fees

As we progress through the term, please note that all bills generated during this period strictly reflect Term 2 2025/2026 Academic Session School Fees. We thank the many parents who have already promptly cleared their outstanding dues.

Let us work together to keep our students cool, hydrated, and ready to excel.
