Davebrook Schools & College recently transformed its Makogi campus into a vibrant theater of heritage and values during the 2026 Cultural Day Celebrations. The event reached its zenith during the “Igbo Day” showcase, where students projected a powerful position on the core values of honesty and tenacity—the historical hallmarks of the Igbo people.
The celebration serves as a practical extension of the Davebrook Excellence Prism. While the students master the complexities of academics in their primary school curriculum, the Cultural Day ensures they remain anchored in moral and social excellence. The school management maintains that a student who masters academics must also master the integrity required for national leadership.
Academic Strategist Mrs. Adesida reaffirmed the school’s commitment to this holistic approach. “We prepare our children for a world where technology is the language, but character is the currency,” she stated. By integrating academics with deep-seated cultural values, Davebrook Schools & College continues to lead as a premier educational institution in Makogi. The 2026 Cultural Day concluded with a resounding affirmation of the school’s mission: to produce innovative leaders who respect their roots while reaching for the stars.
The Drama of Tenacity
The highlight of the afternoon was a compelling drama staged by the primary school students. The performance illustrated the renowned “Igbo Tenacity” for wealth creation through legitimate hard work and unwavering honesty. It contrasted the journeys of diligent youths striving to earn an honest living with Ebuka, a lazy young man looking for shortcuts. Instead of working, Ebuka chose to steal from those who had labored for their wealth. The audience watched intently as Ebuka was eventually caught and faced the consequences, reaffirming that stealing is a taboo in Igbo culture. Ultimately, the play championed the rejection of shortcuts in favor of sustainable success—a powerful lesson that perfectly mirrors Davebrook Schools & College’s firm stance against academic and professional malpractice.
Rhythms of the South-East
Following the drama, the dancers took the stage. The rhythmic beat of the Ogene and the high-energy Atilogwu movements captivated parents and guests. These performances do more than entertain; they build physical discipline and collaborative skills, essential traits for students who spend their mornings designing robotic circuits.
