Weather Alert: Davebrook Issues Critical Health Advisory as Magboro Hits Peak Heat and Humidity

MAGBORO, OGUN STATE – Residents of Magboro and the surrounding Makogi/Shefu Road axis are currently experiencing a punishing “Heat Spike” as we enter the peak of the dry-to-wet season transition. While thermometers will consistently hit 93°F (34°C), the surging humidity levels will make conditions feel significantly more oppressive.

In addition to the heat, our community should prepare for scattered thunderstorms projected throughout the midweek.

⚠️ Health Alert: Meningitis Vigilance & Heat Safety

Health authorities warn that the combination of extreme temperatures and lingering dust creates a “perfect storm” for seasonal health risks. At Davebrook Schools & College, we are prioritizing the following safety protocols to combat heat exhaustion and meningitis:

  • Hydration is Critical: We urge all students to drink plenty of water throughout the day, even without feeling thirsty. Please avoid sugary or caffeinated drinks, as these worsen dehydration.
  • Meningitis Prevention: Dust particles irritate the respiratory tract, increasing susceptibility to infection. We strongly recommend that students wear face masks during the morning commute and avoid overcrowded, poorly ventilated spaces.
  • Heat Management: Our staff will ensure students stay indoors or in the shaded areas of our Wisdom Estate campus during peak hours (11:00 AM – 4:00 PM). Parents should dress students in light, loose-fitting cotton clothing.
  • Skin & Eye Care: Use moisturizers to prevent dry skin and wash eyes regularly with clean water to flush out dust irritants.
